The beginning of Erasmus

Because English is a universal language which we are studying right here in the Basque Country, we decided to write our blogs in English.

At 6a.m. on Wednesday morning we packed up our bags into Belgium's biggest car and headed out to Mondragon, Spain. We left without knowing where to go, who to talk to and if we would have a place to stay. The only thing we knew were these two names, Eskoriatza and Aretxabaleta, which meant nothing to us. So we started driving through Belgium and finally made it to France. Because the car runs on propane gas we had to look everywhere for 'GPL'. We also had two bikes mounted on the back of our Chevy which caused even more problems trying to park the car anywhere. A couple times we decided to just take two parking spots. After 15 or so hours we finally reached San Sebastian where we picked up our 'buddy'. Without her, we would be lost right now! She guided us all the way to Arrasate where we had our first experience with Spanish food: kebaps. A lot smaller than the ones we are used to in Belgium but not bad at all!
We only had one little problem. The lady who rented out her apartment to us was on vacation ... in France. So we stayed the night at our buddy's place which was so nice of her. The next day we went to the college. They didn't know we were coming and couldn't really help us at all. So we went to look at our apartment... So much nicer than we expected!!! (The pictures are on Facebook - look for Stephanie Bours)
It looked great, but then we started looking a little better and decided we needed to do a lot of cleaning! We cleaned and cleaned, and still aren't done cleaning. We took a shower finally after almost three days and feel much better now. Internet is limited as we can only get on it at school. Thankfully it's open pretty late.  We will try to keep you updated as much as possible, but for now this is it. School starts Monday, wish us luck!!!
